After surpassing his best season goal tally, Super Eagles and FK Austria Wien striker, Olanrewaju Kayode, is aiming to finish the current season on a high point by winning the Austrian Bundesliga golden boot.
His 57th minute strike which brought his league goals to 14 surpassing his best tally of 13 scored last season was enough to earn FK Austria Wien a point in the 1-1 draw away to Altach on Sunday.
The goal also took Olanrewaju’s total to 21 goals in all competitions this season making him the hottest Nigerian striker in Europe.
The 23 year old forward in a telephone discussion with www.sportsvillagesquare.com from his Austrian base, Olarenwaju said he was delighted with his goals exploits.
With just four matches to go, Olarenwaju stressed that his target was to win the top scorer award and help push FK Austria Wien for the Austrian Bundesliga title.
He is two goals adrift of current top scorer, Deni Alar who is on 16 goals. F.K. Austrian Wien are now points adrift of league leaders Salzburg with 57 points from 32 games.
“I am very delighted to have surpassed last season goals tally and most importantly to ensure we avoid defeat. I am happy that I bang in goals consistently now and I want to score more.
“I have special trainer who engages me in finishing training the regular training sessions. I think that has been very helpful for me.
The only thing I want to do is to continue scoring goals and every time I step onto the pitch I pray to lift the team with my goals” he told Sports Village Square.
With his goal scoring exploit, Olanrewaju is hoping to lead the Super Eagles’ attack in next month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier fixture with South Africa in Uyo.
