The controversy over the sudden disappearance to Denmark of MFM lead striker, Stephen Odey appears unending. MFM media officer, Oluwole Quadri said on SuperSport programme, Naija-Made that the leading scorer of the Nigerian league went on ‘facility tour’ of Denmark without due permission.
In his words: “Odey is currently in Denmark for facility tour. To my understanding, he has left all staff of the club unaware of his move. We all thought he travelled out for a different mission, but to my surprise we realise he is in Denmark.
“Although, Odey his keen at joining foreign clubs like Club Brugge of Belgium and Celtic of Scotland, I don’t think he has a concrete talk with them. I see him coming back in few days time because he is still a member of the team,” Olawale said.
Young Odey who was caught on camera training alongside with Danish club, FC Copenhagen was defended by Quadri who made it known that the player was lured to play one or two games.
“Odey is still a young boy who can easily gets freak by material things. I think he was lure to play one or two game base on his age, I sure he will return back home in few days time,” he said.
However, according to ESPN reports, MFM FC values Stephen Odey, in the region of $700,000-$1,000,000. The publication quoted the club’s director Emanuel Adeyemi, on a Lagos radio programme on Thursday, where he further disclosed the 19-year-old striker has a binding contract with the club.
“We are looking at between $700,000 to a million for the player,” Adeyemi began. “He’s a bona fide player of MFM and is contracted to our club,” he insisted.
