Gutsy Super Sand Eagles! Fights Back into Reckoning
Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles early Sunday morning fought back into reckoning from 3-1 down to beat Mexico 5-4 in their second match of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas.
The match which kicked off 11:30 Saturday night Nigerian time stretched into early Sunday morning.
But since the victory came after extra time, by regulations, Nigeria can only get two points and therefore trails Iran which obtained three points following a regulation time 3-2 defeat of Mexico on match day one.
Iran lost the second match, 5-4 to group leaders, Italy. Nigeria will have to beat Iran on Monday night in the last group match to qualify behind group leaders, Italy, for the next round.
