Still smarting from the Wednesday’s 0-2 loss to Katsina United in a rescheduled league match, Rivers United will attempt to recover as they face Nasarawa United in yet another rescheduled encounter in Lafia on Sunday.
The crash to Katsina United was Rivers United’s first loss in four games in all competitions and they will be looking to fight back and put their floundering campaign back on track.
The occasion on Sunday will be extra special for Rivers United midfielder, Esosa Igbinoba who will be returning to his old stomping ground to face his former club.
Nasarawa United striker, Babangida Ibrahim Hamisu says Esosa will get a warm reception from the home faithful.
“Esosa is a very good player who did very well for Nasarawa United before he joined Rivers United.
“He will get a good reception from fans of the club (Nasarawa United). We are not intimidated by the prospect of facing Rivers United and will approach the game with the aim of amassing all three points,” he told our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
Esosa also took the time to discuss Sunday’s game. The Rivers United midfielder still enjoys a special relationship with fans of the Solid Miners and revealed that he will not celebrate if he scores against his former club on Sunday.
“The fans of Nasarawa United showed me so much love and I will not celebrate if I score against (Nasarawa United on Sunday).
“However, I am a professional and will try to help my team, Rivers United win on Sunday” he said.
