Supporters Hail Akwa Utd’s First Round Performance
BY MFON PATRICK
The Akwa United Supporters’ Club has expressed satisfaction over the team’s performance in the first round of matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League. The club, with 29 points from 19 matches, finished the first stanza in the fifth position in a log of 20 teams.
Sunday Otu, the chairman of the supporters’ club gave the commendation in a chat with the media department of the club in Uyo.
He explained that the supporters club and all the fans of Akwa United were very happy with the performance of the team after the first stanza of the league.
“As members of the supporters club, we are impressed with the achievement of our team after the first round of matches.
“We are just six points behind the league leaders. That shows that we are not too far away from the top and that we are capable of topping the table and winning the league at the end of the season. We still have 19 more matches to play.
“We trust the management, coaching crew and the players and with our support we believe that they will make us proud at the end of the season”.
Otu called on the management of the club to sign quality players to strengthen some departments in the team during the mid season transfer market to ensure it has the needed depth to mount a serious title challenge in the second stanza of the season.
The supporters’ club chairman commended the state government for supporting the club and expressed the hope that the team will bring honour and glory to the state at the end of the season.
