Manchester United has congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo for his milestone 100th goal in the UEFA Champions League competition. The club in its twitter handle wrote: “Where it all began…Congratulations to @Ronaldo on scoring 100 European goals”
Indeed, it was at Manchester United that the first of Ronaldo’s record setting goals was scored in a 3-0 qualifying-round victory over Debrecen of Hungary in 2005.
Since that time, he scored 15 more to take his total to 16 with Manchester United. Wednesday’s 100th goal came 4,264 days after the first goal. The remaining 84 were scored for Real Madrid making the Portuguese one of the modern heroes of football.
The 100 goals are spread over 140 games and had seen him lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy on three occasions. The goals are spread across 15 countries in 24 cities, including four games at neutral grounds.
