The Super Eagles may camp in France in May as part of preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in June.

Franco-German coach of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr, is reported by Ahram Online to have chosen Corsica, a mountainous Mediterranean island and one of the 13 regions of France as Super Eagles’ base.

According to the report, Rohr planned to pitch Nigeria with a Corsica team as part of preparation for the match against South Africa.

The Corsica national team called “Squadra Corsa di Balò”, is an unofficial team of the French island and is neither affiliated with FIFA nor UEFA. Ahead of the proposed matchup with the Super Eagles, the team had played against national teams only three times.

These were against France in 1967, Cameroon in 1998 and Congo in 2009.
