Chelsea have agreed personal terms with AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to leading football journalist Guillem Balague.
However, Chelsea must now strike a deal with Monaco before Bakayoko can complete a summer move to Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Monaco this season, helping the principality club top Ligue 1 and progress to the Champions League quarterfinals, beating Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City along the way.
Impressive performances have caught the attention of many teams across Europe, with The Mirror reporting that Manchester United are keen admirers of the French youth international.
The Mirror report that Chelsea have offered Monaco £32m in a bid to beat United in the race to land Bakayoko.
It is claimed by the newspaper report that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte sees Bakayoko as an ideal player to partner fellow Frenchman N’Golo Kane in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield.
Like Kante, Bakayoko is incredibly fit, but he is much bigger than the former Leicester man and therefore better in the air.
