Will Shakespeare Rewrite History?
New manager of Leicester City, Craig Shakespeare, has led the team to win back-to-back matches for the first time since October after the sack of Claudio Ranieri.
A 1-0 win over Sevilla will place Shakespeare in the history book as they will reach the last eight of the competition, an almost unthinkable feat considering that Leicester are 15th in the Premier League table.
Despite being brought into the job after the team’s loss in Sevilla, Shakespeare’s team are still in the tie after earning a crucial away goal in the 2-1 loss in Sevilla and should draw on the fact they have a 100% home record in the Champions League this season.
Jamie Vardy’s second half goal kept Leicester in the tie. Goals from Pablo Sarabia and Joaquin Correa had originally given the Spanish side a 2-0 lead.
Sevilla are unbeaten in their four matches since the first leg, but have drawn their last two games 1-1. Despite that, Jorge Sampaoli’s side are third in La Liga, five points off leaders Real Madrid.
