Ghead Greisha, the Egyptian referee, who is handling the Rivers United Al Merreikh CAF Champions League match on Sunday, is under pressure at home. Zamalek, third on the log of the Egyptian league table are calling for the referee’s head for an alleged mishandling of a domestic league match involving the club and Maqassa last Friday.

Zamalek lost the match and heaped the blames on Greisha. The club’s shareholders are meeting in Cairo this Friday to consider a proposal from the board for the club to pull out of the domestic league in protest if the Egyptian Football Association fails to order a replay of the match.

The referee committee of the Egyptian FA are standing by Greisha who also officiated the Nigeria away 2-1 win over Zambia in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series last October.
