Players and officials of the State owned but relegation prone Sunshine Stars FC, Akure in the Nigerian Premier League on Tuesday barricaded the entrance to the offices of the outgoing governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

They were protesting the non-payment of salaries. The players were reportedly being owed salaries in the past six months and a half, while the officials of the football controlling body in the state, the Ondo State Football Agency, are being owed for 13 months.

The protesting players and officials blocked the entrance to the Government house with cars and the bus belonging to the Ondo State Football Agency.

They had earlier in the month staged street protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital and the base of the club.

The 15th is on account of five teams behind the club having one or two outstanding matches to play.

In nine matches this season, the hunger-stricken Sunshine Stars have won just two.
