Team Nigeria has opened their account in the ongoing Africa Continental Road Championship in Luxor, Egypt, Tuesday 14th February, 2017.
The team finished in 4th and 7th place in the Team Time Trial.
The female team with the trio of 2015 All Africa Games gold medallist, Gloria Odiase, Rita Aggo and Tombrapa Grippa were ahead of their male counterpart as they finished 4th covering a distance of 43 kilometres.
Coach Miebaka said the competition is tough.
“Our opponents really came prepared knowing the All Africa Games Champions are here”
“We need to work harder to win the Individual Time Trial and the Road Race” Coach Miebaka said.
Eritrea successfully defended their 2016 title they won in Morocco to finish first, with Ethiopia and hosts Egypt trailing in second and third positions.
In the male category Nigeria finished 7th covering a distance of 57 kilometres.
Eritrea finished in first position, Algeria second and Rwanda third.
Eleven countries competed in the Time Trial.
Jacinta Okorie will be in action Wednesday, in the Individual Junior Girls category.
The Senior Boys and Girls will race Thursday in the Individual Time Trial while the Road Race comes up on Saturday for the females and their male counterpart race on Sunday.
